Know Your Limitations as a B-2 Visitor...

If you visit USA on a B-2 Visitor for Pleasure visa, ensure that you stick to tourist activities. Employment is not permitted even where only remuneration is room, board, and pocket change. However, a short course of study is allowed, as well as avocational or recreational studies. Attending summer programs offered by U.S. schools is also allowed, so long as no academic credit is earned toward completing an academic program. Some volunteer work is allowed on the companion B-1 Visitors for Business visa, but there are strict conditions to which you must adhere.
