Key Changes To Immigration Policies That Will Be In Effect This Year

The following immigration policies are being discussed in the article below:

  1. More reasons for which immigrants can be summoned to appear before immigration judges.

  2. Immigration officers can now deny immigration applications without issuing Requests for Evidence (RFEs).

  3. Immigration Medical Examination results can now be signed by authorized physicians as much as two months before filing an immigration application.

  4. Immigrants married to U.S. citizens need to live together in marital union for at least three years before filing an application to become a U.S. citizen.

  5. USCIS officers may entirely waive the interview that is typically required for foreigners when renewing 2-year Lawful Permanent Resident Cards (or "Green Cards").
