International Students in U.S. May Not Even Be Granted Optional Practical Training in the Future

Although international student enrollment is sharply decreasing in the U.S. while increasing in other countries, there is a plan afoot to kill off Optional Practical Training (OPT), a program which allowed students to work in the U.S. for one year after graduation. The work was limited to training in their field of study, and necessarily had to be related to the student's course of study as a result. Killing off OPT will further reduce the numbers of enrolled international students and their vital contributions to the U.S., both economic and non-economic. #OPT #H1B #Immigration #StudentVisa
