Administration Announces That Harsh New Immigration Regulations Are Imminent

The Department of Homeland Security has released its unified agenda of rulemaking for Fall 2019, and the list is as impressive and as anti-foreigner as immigration attorneys have been reporting for months.

The slew of rules will drastically impact the ability of foreign nationals to obtain U.S. immigration benefits. From the student hoping to obtain post-degree Optional Practical Training (OPT), to the spouses of H-1B visa holders (H-4s) wanting temporary employment authorization, to foreign nationals applying for L-1 visas, to the less financially independent U.S. citizens requesting permanent residence for their spouses, to foreigners desperately seeking asylum, many people have been brought within the purview of these draconian new rules.

The substantial negative impact of this unified agenda on foreign nationals cannot be overstated. It is important, now more than ever before, that foreign nationals obtain expert legal assistance, not just when submitting U.S. immigration applications, but when planning out the chronology of events leading to the submission of such applications. Without professional legal assistance, foreign nationals may unknowingly act in ways that jeopardize a U.S. immigration application that will not even be submitted until years later.
